Contestants must have a presentable talent.
You are required to provide your own competition wardrobe that consists of:
a business suit for the interview; a swimsuit; an evening gown;
and a competition costume.
Contestants are required to attend the workshops and complete all of the paperwork that is prescribed by the New York State Scholarship program. There is a contract and an affidavit stating you are in compliance with the rules and regulations of the pageant. You will be asked to sign this sometime in June (parental signature required if you are under 21 years of age). Rehearsals take place in June and July, and the pageant is usually held in August. The Miss America program requires each contestant to adopt a cause. This cause is an ideal that is important to her. It is called a "Platform".
